Imphal, August 01 2011:
All Manipur Recognised Private Schools' Welfare Association (AMRPSWA) has appealed to its constituent units not to declare holiday on August 13 and observe Patriots' Day on the said day.
Addressing a press conference in this connection at Manipur Press Club here today, Association advisor N Tomba said that observance of Patriots' Day is essential for instilling the spirit of patriotism and discipline among the students.
So, all the private schools under the Association should observe Patriots' Day instead of declaring holiday on August 13 .
He informed that at the level of the Association, Patriots' Day would be observed at Shumang Leela Shanglen.
All the private schools should join in the observance and those which are located far off and could not make it to the observance should organise Patriots' Day in their respective school premises.
As part of this year's Patriots' Day observance at Shumang Leela Shanglen, a short-play of about 20 to 25 minutes would be performed and a poetry recitation competition would be held, he further informed, adding from next year onwards, the Association would be organising Patriots' Day observance from the district level onwards.
Furthermore, Tomba disclosed that the Association would join hands with Hijam Irabot Memorial Charitable Trust in organising an academic competition for students of class X to XII on September 17 and 18 to commemorate the month-long memorial observance of Jananeta Hijam Irabot.
The prizes of the competition would be distributed on September 30 during a function at Pishum Oinam Leikai.
All these programmes are to be taken up as part of the resolutions adopted by the Association last year, he added.
