Imphal, October 31 2019:
Condemning the stationing of security personnel inside some educational institutes in light of the present law and order situation, the Joint Students' Coordinating Committee (JSCC) has demanded that the security forces be moved out immediately.
Speaking to media persons at MSF office at Kwakeithel Thounaojam Leikai today, JSCC media coordinator Sazad Bhuiyamayum said that Central Para-Military Forces (CMPFs) are being stationed inside the campuses of Modern College, Maharaja Bodhachandra College and DM College of Teachers Education, which is shocking and disappointing.

Demanding the Government to remove the security forces from inside the campuses of the said institutes, he cautioned the Government against stationing security forces in any of the schools or colleges of the State in the future.
Sazad conveyed that JSCC, an apex body formed by AMSU, MSF, KSA and SUK, has always stood against militarization of educational institutes and reminded that JSCC had even written to the Prime Minister to remove the Assam Riffles post from Manipur University campus.
On October 15 last year, Chief Minister N Biren Singh had assured to do the needful, but till date the JSCC's demand has not been fulfilled, he lamented.
Apart from creating numerous problems, militarization of educational institutes also traumatises the students.
This is unacceptable, he said.
The Maharaja Bodhachandra College Students' Union has also come out strongly against the stationing of CPMFs inside the college campus, stating that the situation has created an atmosphere of fear and tension among the students.
Questioning the Government's view of the students of the college in taking the decision to station the security forces there, a statement issued by the general secretary of the student union demanded the Government to immediately remove the security forces from inside the college campus.
The students of the college will be forced to take up necessary actions if the State Government fails to do the needful, the student union warned.
