18 weapons suspected to have been taken away by SoO deserters recovered
Well co-ordinated move yields rich dividends

Out of 25 assorted weapons taken away by five cadres of KNO/KLA when they fled from their designated Samushang Camp, security forces have recovered 18 weapons from Twichin village under Lamlai police station last night.
In a statement issued to the press late this evening, PRO of the State police and SP NAB, S Gautam said that based on specific inputs about the movements of some hill based underground cadres with sophisticated weapons in the forest area around Twichin village under Lamlai police station, six teams of Imphal East police commandos led by M Rajen, Addl SP (Ops) and assisted by P Achouba OC/CDO of Imphal East under the supervision of senior officers conducted a cordon and search operation at Twichin village and nearby forests.
During the course of the search operations the teams discovered 18 weapons kept inside two gunny bags at the foothills of Twichin village, said the statement.

The recovered arms include four AK 56 rifles, two AK 47 rifles, two AK 22 rifles, one AK rifle (foldable butt), two M-16 rifles, one M-21 rifle, one M-15,/AR rifle, two SLRs, one G-3 rifle, one HK rifle and one lethod gun, said the PRO.
These arms are suspected to have been removed from Samushang Camp, which houses cadres of KNO/KLA under the SoO pact, said the statement.
Significantly five cadres of KNO/KLA fled from their designated camp taking along with them 25 assorted weapons in the night of January 2 .
The police teams were assisted by 16 AR, 30 AR and 18th Sikh Regiment at Twichin village.
In connection with this incident, four persons including a young boy were pulled up by police from New Lambulane on January 13 .
