Second list of candidates soon: Cong chief

Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) on Sunday observed the 74th death anniversary of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi at Congress Bhawan here.
MPCC president N Token, who was among Congress leaders and party members who attended the tribute event, told media persons that the second phase of party's nominees for the ensuing assembly elections will be announced within short notice as the Screening Committee will have a meeting in this regard on Sunday evening.
Central Election Committee headed by Sonia Gandhi as chairman will also hold a meeting and the tickets for the remaining 20 seats will be announced, he added.
N Loken continued that Congress has formed a pre-poll alliance with Left parties and presently there are no plans of having pre-poll alliance with any other party, though there is an understanding for forming post-poll pact with some other like-minded parties.
Speaking on the occasion, former chief minister O Ibobi stated that the observance was being held by MPCC with a desire to fulfil the wishes and dreams of Mahatma Gandhi.
Mahatma Gandhi wished that people of India have firm believe in secularism and live together in harmony.
His ideology of non-violence and secularism should be followed by all Congress workers with sincerity, he added.
The programme marked by offering of floral tributes to the statute of Mahatma Gandhi was attended by AICC Manipur in-charge Bhakta Charart Das, N Loken, Okram Ibobi, MLAs Gaikhangam, AK Mirabai, former MPs, MLAs and MPCC office bearers.
