IRCS reaches out to ASHA workers in Senapati

A team from the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Manipur State Branch led by its chairman Dr Mohen Singh reached out to Senapati district and distributed special quality masks and hand sanitizers to the district's ASHA workers.
The IRCS flag was hoisted by the state IRCS chairman before a simple distribution programme was held in the DRDA hall of Senapati.
IRCS Imphal West chairman Narendra Ningomba said that Manipuris living in Taiwan pooled money and donated the safety items after they heard of the hardship faced by the people of the state.
Five each of special quality masks were given to all ASHA workers of the district.
The consignment was handed over to five ASHA facilitators of the district for distribution to all the 325 ASHA workers of the district.
ASHA workers play a big role in disseminating information to the people and giving treatment to the sick.
However, they get meagre pay, said the Imphal West IRCS chairman.
While lauding the district members for their invaluable services, Narendra declared Senapati IRCS as the best performing district branch in different activities of humanity.
The state team also advised the youth volunteers to be brave and strong in the service of humanity.
N Benjamin Tao, secretary IRCS Senapati, requested the state officials to award commendation certificates to the district youth volunteers to encourage them in their service to humanity.
The district Red Cross Society and the ASHA workers expressed gratitude to the state team for their concern for the wellbeing of the people by providing the PPE kits.
A Nabachandra, youth coordinator IRCS Manipur State Branch, district ASHA facilitators and members of the district IRCS were present at the event.
