Imphal, October 26 2015:
Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council, Kangpokpi on Monday announced to launch intensified stir if the Manipur Government fails to declare Sadar Hills as full-fledged District by November 2 .
A sit-in protest was organised on Monday by the Council attended by members of Kangpokpi Women Society and Sadar Union and Kangpokpi Town Committee.
Attending the protest, Executive Member of ADC Kangpokpi, Lunthang Haokip said that it has been more than 40 years since the first demand for a full-fledged District began but the Government continued to turn a blind eye.
The total size of Sadar Hills is around 1698 sq km and has a population of around 9.93 lakhs, said Lunthang Haokip.
He said declaring Sadar Hills as a district will not harm to the territorial integrity of Manipur.
People of Sadar Hills are still underdeveloped and so if the Government fails to declare Sadar Hills as district by November 2, ADC Members of Kangpokpi will be forced to take a decision, warned Lunthang Haokip.
