DESAM, AMSU on school closure issue

Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) hailed all student organizations, guardian associations and the State Government for their efforts to facilitate re-opening of all Catholic schools.
DESAM in a statement on Friday also lauded all for taking a firm decision to make education a disturbance free zone.
"We appeal to all individuals and groups not to ban any educational institution for personal interest in future," said the statement by Sanasam Bormani, Secretary, Education & Academic Affairs, DESAM.
The student body also urged all school authorities to refrain from activities that could hurt the interest of the people.
DESAM said that uneasiness prevails every year in the minds of parents while seeking admission for their wards in Catholic schools in the State.
The student body urged for maintaining a clean and transparent school admission process devoid of sleaze.
The alliance promised to formulate a transparent policy for bettering the admission procedure and sought help and support from school authorities, guardian associations and student organizations in this regard.
AMSU: All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) on Friday appealed to the authority to help in finding ways so that the ban on Catholic Schools is lifted in the interest of the students.
Speaking to the media persons at their head office, AMSU Secretary General Manjit Sarangthem, said that the school have been guarded by AMSU volunteers since April 22 but still students cannot shed their fear psychosis.
So they appealed to the armed group to immediately lift ban in the larger interest of the students and make educational institution free zone.
