Wild animals relocated

Imphal, April 23 2018:
In connection with the World Earth Day, People for Animals Manipur relocated various rare wild animals at Yangoupokpi Wildlife Sanctuary along with Manipur Forest Department.
The relocation which was conducted on April 20 consisted of two Burmese pythons, one Bengal Slow Loris, one Asian Brown tortoises, one Steppe Eagle and two Rhesus Macaques (monkey).
The animals were rescued from different parts of the State.
They were provided necessary medical assistance at PFA Manipur.
Some of them have even go through their part of hibernation period at the shelter.
The relocation was executed with the support and approval of Wildlife section of Manipur Forest Department.
About 10 numbers of PFA volunteers along with RO and staff of Yangoupokpi Wildlife Sanctuary went deep inside the sanctuary along the steep and dangerous terrain and released the animals.
PFA Manipur appealed to the public to inform about distressed animal to it or Forest Departments.
It said that rearing, keeping, rescuing or hunting of wildlife animals by unauthorised individual is against the law.
