Krishi mela cum exhibition organised

Regional Sericultural Research Station, Central Silk Board organised a Sericulture Krishi Mela cum Exhibition at the research station in Imphal today.
Speaking as the chief guest of the event, Director, Department of Sericulture S Kunjakishore said that the Krishi mela is organised every year by Regional Sericultural Research Station, Central Silk Board as a calendar programme.
He continued that the mela cum exhibition aims to promote silk varieties of Manipur apart from providing a platform in the post cocoon phase, where garments woven from the silk are sold and exhibited.
Altogether, 18 stalls are set up in the said mela, he said while adding that federation of Sericulture and entrepreneurs are taking part in it.
Scientist-D & Head RSRS Dr N Ibotombi said that the Krishi mela cum exhibition also provides an opportunity to all the farmers in sharing their knowledge and problems apart from disseminating knowledge about the new and improved research technologies of RSRS.
Chairman, Manipur State Sericulture Co-operative Federation Ltd Imphal Th Surjaboro Singh and Director (i/c) Central Muga Eri Research & Training Institute, Central Silk Board Lahdoigarh, Jorhat Dr Ranjana Das were also present at the event.
The dignitaries of the mela cum exhibition released a pamphlet as well.
