LM block upgradation fulfils long-cherish dream: ZTKL, SANSA

The student community of the western Tangkhul areas has lauded the recent upgradation of Lungchong Maiphai block to a full-fledged sub-divisional status in a recently concluded Manipur Legislative Assembly.
In a joint press release issued Thursday, Zingtun Tangkhul Katamnao Long (ZTKL) and Sagolmang Area Naga Student's Association (SANSA) appreciated Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh, Deputy Speaker MK Preshow Shimray and others in realizing the long cherished dream of the people in the western region of Ukhrul district.
ZTKL president AC Thotso said the public in the areas have endured hardships for several years and expected the recent upgradation of LM Block would ease their hardship to a great extent.
"It is our hope that the sub-divisional office would come in full operation and deliver the expectations of the general public," he stated.
In 1983, the Governor of Manipur passed the order of setting up the block in the area, but the office was inaugurated only in 2006 by Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh.
The LM sub-division would now covers 28 villages with 8509 houses and has a 42451 population.
Earlier, the administrative block was attached to sub-divisional office, Ukhrul headquarters.
A number of its 14 villages fall under 41 Chingai Assembly constituency, while the rest under Ukhrul AC.
