'Release the pending honoraria of mid day meal workers'

Mid-day Meal Workers' Union, Manipur has urged the State Government to release the pending honoraria for the mid-day meal workers within 5 days.
According to the union, honorarium of 9 months for about 9,600 mid-day meal workers of the State are pending, though the Centre has already sanctioned the same.
Speaking to media persons during a press meet held at Irawat Bhawan today, president of the union, Yumnam Indrani said that honorarium of mid day meal workers are pending since July 2020.Regarding the issue, they have urged the Education Minister and Finance Minister of the State on different occasions and they assured that it will be released soon however no action have been taken till date.
The mid day meal workers have contacted the concerned ZEOs for the same and their demands have not been heeded.
She further stated that the honoraria for the mid day meal workers in the State is only Rs 1000 per month which is quite low as compared to other States.
She alleged that the State Government has kept on hold the honoraria though the Centre has already sanctioned it therefore she urged the Government and authorities concerned to release the pending honorariums at the earliest taking into consideration the suffering of the mid day meal workers.
