ZYF tour reveals hard life in remote areas

The Zeliangrong Youth Front (ZYF) touring which was kicked off on 9th October, 2013 covering different villages in Lakhipur Assembly Constituency of Cachar district, Assam, Tousem Sub-Division and Nungba Sub-Division of Tamenglong district concluded on 15th October, 2013 .
According to a statement issued General Secretary of ZYF (AMN) Subash Kamei, during the tour, the ZYF Executive Meeting held at Tousem HQ and adopted various resolutions while the election of ZYF Tousem Zone was conducted on 10th October at Tousem Sub-Divisional HQ in which Wangreilung, Helilang Newme, JK.
Lungsanglungbe and Idimtuing Newme were unanimously elected as Chairman, Vice-Chairmen and General Secretary respectively.
During the touring, the ZYF team comprising about 40 members interacted with village elders, members of Village Authority, Chairmen and Chiefs, youth leaders, student's leaders of different villages particularly living along the stretch of National Highway No.37.The ZYF team found Kaiphundai-Tousem road which connects Tousem Sub-Divisional HQ from NH.
No.37 is in deplorable condition.
The State Govt's failure to check the quality of work executed on this road is questionable and strongly condemned the govt.for neglecting the grievances and hardships of the people, the statement said.
On the 12th October, the ZYF team inspected Tamenglong district boundary at Phaitol village, Kangramga village and Khedagor village.
At Khedagor village, the ZYF team came across trees being cut down on large scale within the jurisdiction of Tamenlong district by some persons belonging to non tribal community from Jiribam purportedly for rubber and teak plantation thereby the ZYF team strongly protesting against the land encroachment and illegal intrusion within the territory of the district have burnt down the areas where trees were cut in large scale.
The people living at the border and boundary of the Tamenglong district also expressed and conveyed their grievances to ZYF during interaction about the State Govt's neglect especially when it comes to land issue.
The people declared to fully support ZYF in protection and keeping intact the Tamenglong land and district boundary at any cost.
The ZYF team came to know about many unreported cases relating to hit and run case by goods carrier trucks plying along the NH No.37.Mrs.Peijanglungliu Gangmei of Rengpang village escaped death but severely injured with compound fractured bones and dismember of foot and remains confined in house after she was hit by heavy truck on 23rd December, 2011.Mrs.Lungnuliu@ Lungnumei Phaoamei of Taobam (Irang) village was run over by heavy truck last year.
Six people died when truck hit Tata Sumo near Khongshang in the month of May last year.
Mr.Benjamin Gonmei of Longmai (Noney) died following speeding truck hit him at Longmai bazaar in the month of August this year.
Domestic animals such as cattle, dogs, goats, pigs, fouls were run over by the trucks are almost regularly features of the day.
The people expressed strong dissatisfaction and deep concern over frequent accident case.
The ZYF team came across indiscipline personnel of Territorial Army posted at Kaimai village army post.
The ZYF will apprise the matter to the Govt.of India for taking up befitting action against the army personnels namely Lupheng Paominthang R/No.1300433 and Semboi Vaiphei R/No.13004712 as per laws for threatening the youth leaders by misusing the duty and responsibility in contradictory to army purpose to protect the citizens.
The ZYF would take up different forms of strong democratic agitation very soon, the statement added.
