Imphal, September 18 2022:
Volunteers of Manipur Pradesh Youth Congress Committee (MPYCC) observed the 72nd birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as 'National Unemployment Day' and aired their angst by cutting a cake at the office of Imphal West Employment Exchange at Lamphelpat on Saturday.
The event, however, ended abruptly as police intervened and herded out the MPYCC volunteers from the office complex thereby leading to intense tussle between the two sides.
Before the police arrived, a large number of MPYCC volunteers descended at the office of Imphal West Employment Exchange to hold PM Narendra Modi's birthday by cutting a cake and protest against rising unemployment in the country.
Just after cutting the cake, a team of police arrived at the spot and stopped MPCC secretary Bankimchandra from briefing media persons about the protest and forced out MPYCC volunteers from the office complex.
When the protestors reached the main gate of the office, police tried to snatch the banner used for the protest thereby leading to an intense tussle between the two sides.
Amidst the tussle, MPYCC leader N Popilal addressed media persons and said that the BJP government remains silent when un-employment rate in the country is rising and it is not a healthy sign that government has been ignoring voices of unemployed people.
He also said that the government should not suppress democratic agitations against un-employment problem.
