Sankritan artistes leave for Myanmar

Imphal, December 15 2018:
36 Sankritan artistes left Imphal today for the 5th International Sankritan Day Celebration 2018 to be held in Myanmar from December 17 to 22.The artistes were flagged off from Wangkhei Thangapat Mapal by retired IAS RK Nimai.
MP Thokchom Meinya, MLA N Indrajit Singh, MLA S Sova Singh, MLA Rameshor Meitei, MLA H Dingo, Director INMDA Imphal, L Upendro Sharma, former Minister Dr M Nara Singh, MLA Th Satyabrata Singh and Deputy Speaker Kongkham Robindro Singh will also participate in the event.
The 5th International Sankritan Day Celebration Committee in collaboration with Shree Shree Govindajee Nat Sankritan, Wangkhei Palace Compound Imphal, Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy, Consulate General of India, Myanmar, Manipur Cultural Integration Conference (MCIC) and Mangri Travels and Tours, Mandalay, Myanmar are organising the event.
There will be two days of workshop on Nat Sankritan at the event on December 20 and 21.The event aims at familiarising the Meiteis in Maynmar and Myanmar people about the unique form of Manipuri Sankritan, said the team before leaving for Myanmar.
