Chandel, July 11 2014 :
A joint meeting of ANTA, ALT and ACA held on July 8 decided to ban Social Impact Organisation from conducting meeting with the public or chiefs of the Anal villages whose land, plot and Jhum lands are affected in the process of road expansion from Chandel Christian village to Chakpikarong via Khambathel village in the district, informed a statement issued by ANTA President Wng Kohring Victor.
The statement of the Anal apex body urged the district administration to settle the land compensation process only with the respective affected villagers, or chiefs concerned and not with outsiders.
The issue of dealing land compensation directly with the villagers concerned had also been affirmed during a meeting of seven tribes of the district under the banner of CNPO earlier, the statement recalled.
While informing the organisation to stop calling further meetings on land compensation, the statement asked the general public, chiefs and village authority members of the Anal community to stay away from such meetings convened by SIO or face strict dealing under the Anal customary law.
Meanwhile, CNPO has strongly protested the move of the said Social Impact Organisation and said it won't allow the organisation to interfere in the matters which the people of Chandel would have to decide for themselves.
Citing land matters as ' big and sensitive issue', CNPO said employing outsiders without proper information and knowledge of the area would add more problems to the issues.
Therefore, the authority concerned must think of this and refrain from assigning any contract work to non local organisation.
Maintaining that efforts were exerted by CNPO to start the road work from Pallel to Chandel and Chandel to Chakpikarong, CNPO said people wished that the newly formed CNPO Development Monitoring Cell with all the village chiefs and tribe presidents as members becomes the sole responsible stakeholders in all round development of the district.
