A team of the Naga People's Organizations (NPO) visited the Silent village in Senapati district in which some 36 houses were burnt down by villagers of Seijang which is under Lamlai Police station in Imphal East district on May 3 .

NPO has strongly condemned the 'barbaric and cowardice act' of the Seijang villagers to carry out such inhuman and unacceptable activities to another village.
Stating that the attack and damages were carried out around 10:30 am when the Silent villagers were out in the paddy fields for normal household chores.
"It is unfortunate for the majority community to show their might and power through such act which recollects old fashion of barbarism and beastly ways of dominating a society while the present world has marched forward into a civilized society," the NPO added.
The NPO also alleged that the 'devilish design' of the valley based groups attempted of absorbing every possible area and land of the hills in the past through the Imphal Municipality jurisdiction, thus forcibly capturing the lands of the tribal people dominating the hill districts of Manipur.
The NPO then demanded the voice and decision of the Hill Area Committee (HAC) with regard to the said incident meted out to the tribal people and its land in Manipur.
"The tribals and their ownership of their land have to be protected in any manner and that, the attempt of the majority community to provoke and absorb tribal lands through such inhuman act is unjustifiable and will not be tolerated," it warns.
The NPO questions the integrity and responsibilities of the nearest police station which is just three kilometers from the site of the incident.
"Such act of bias treatment towards a sensitive and communal issue by the law enforcers is condemned and that, the State government is demanded to act justly and punish those responsible for the May 3 incident without delay," it stated.
The NPO also demands the State government to compensate and carry out extensive relief to the affected victims immediately to content the situation.
