Imphal, October 01 2015:
The Coordinating Committee (CC) of All Tribal students' Union, Manipur (ATSUM) has expressed disappointment over what it called the "utter lack of moral conscience and deafening silence" of all the tribal legislators before and after the recent passing of the three "anti-tribal Bills" .
In statement, information and publicity secretary CC-ATSUM alleged that the Government of Manipur interpreted "fishes for snakes" in the print media and the Hill Areas Committee (HAC) turned a blind eye for fear of losing trust from the Chief Minister.
CC-ATSUM said to dispel doubts amongst the general masses and the members of the Hill Areas Committee (HAC), a critique has been delivered to all the legislators on the three bills in detail in the hope of taking corrective measures before the expiry of the ultimatum served for resignation.
However, the tribal legislators have failed to feel the pulse and sentiment of the tribal communities.
The statement further mentioned that the ball is now in the court of the President of India.
To apprise the President, a joint delegation comprising of the Co-ordinating Committee, ATSUM and the Churachandpur JAC will be heading for Delhi anytime from now.
The statement added that an emergency Assembly will be convened soon to decide the future course of actions only after the return journey of the delegation to Delhi.
