Imphal, May 30 2013:
While expressing happiness over the State Cabinet decision on granting the status of major tribal dialects of Manipur to Gangte, Liangmai and Poumai for introduction in school textbooks, Council of Tribal Language and Literature Societies, Manipur (CTLLSM) has conveyed its gratitude to Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh and Education Minister Moirangthem Okendro Singh.
In a statement, Ragongning Gangmei, Chairman of CTLLSM, stated that the language touch is considered to be the best touch for nourishment of emotional integrity and unity of Manipur, because languages in Manipur are the mosaic of state integrity.
Therefore, the approval of these languages is one of the landmark decisions recently taken in the state in a span of about 20 years.
Ragongning, however, added, "Still we have to go ahead with this noble task to rope in the languages of Zeme, Maram, Inpui, Maring, Anal, Chiru, Kharam, Thangal and many others to the mainstream of the state in this age of mother tongue education" .
