AR apprehends illegal Rohingya emigrant

Imphal, January 29 2023:
A team of 5 Assam Rifles on Saturday apprehended an illegal Rohingya emigrant identified as Faisal Khan, son of Abdul Hague of Moreh Ward No 3, Tengnoupal district as per his duplicate Aadhaar card, while trying to cross Indo-Myanmar border near Ihdo-Myanmar Friendship bridge.
According to a report, a team of 5 AR on Saturday was carrying out area domination patrolling at BP-77 Indo-Myanmar Friendship Bridge and Integrated Check Post (ICP) during which around 11 am, the accused was seen carrying one trolley bag and one black handbag trying to cross Border secretly near the Friendship bridge.
On being asked by the AR troopers to stop for verification, the individual tried to flee back towards Myanmar territory but was apprehended by the team.
On enquiring about his identification, the person showed his duplicate Aadhaar card identifying him as Faisal Khan.
On further interrogation, he revealed of being a Rohingya refugee and belongs to Arakan state, Buthi Daung Thayra, Myanmar.
The accused also admitted that he entered India via Bangladesh-Assam along with his family in the year 2015-2016 and after sometime they moved to Delhi and stayed in one rented house in Vikash Puri, New Delhi.
After one year they shifted to Hyderabad.
In 2018, they moved from Hyderabad to Moreh and stayed in Tamil Masjid area Ward No 3, Moreh till June 2022.After his family members returned to Hyderabad, he illegally entered Myanmar in June 2022 .
The accused also stated that he had been arrested earlier in November 2018 at Imphal Airport by Manipur Police and sent to judicial custody for 20 days.
On checking his belongings, an Aadhaar card bearing No 4648 0688 8912, IPhone,, phone power bank, Myanmarese currency worth 2,81,115 Kyats, Chinese currency (3 Yuan), Korean currency (12,000 Won), Thailand currency (20 Baht), Japanese currency (5 Yen), Indian currency Rs 20, one black trolley bag and one hand bag with personal clothings were recovered from him.
The accused and recovered items have been handed over to Moreh police station for further verification and necessary legal action.
