3 rustlers send to judicial remand

Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Imphal West on Monday sent three people who stole and butchered a pregnant cow for selling the meat, to judicial custody till December 12 .
The three rustlers, identified as Wahengbam Dolendro alias Bungcha (33) s/o Kala of Bamdiar Makha Leikai, Warokpam Arun alias Naoba (32) s/o Ibochouba of Bamdiar Tera Makhong Makha Leikai and Md Burhanuddin alias Zeva (34) s/o Md Kheiruddin alias Shah Jahan of Lilong Haoreibi Makha Leikai, were produced on Monday before the court by a team of Nambol police station with a prayer for judicial remand, after expiry of the previous police remand period.
The counsel of the three accused objected to the remand prayer and filed a bail application.
The case IO through the APP submitted to the court that one Leichombam Lilabati of Phoijing Tera Makhong made a complaint to Nambol PS on November 19 around 3.30 pm, stating that her pregnant cow which was properly tied up at the out-shed located near her residence had been stolen by unknown person(s) on the intervening night of November 15 and 16 .
The family searched for the cow everywhere but learned on November 18 at around 5.30 pm, that the cow had been butchered and the meat sold off at Tenjao Leirak, located at a distance of 200 metres from their house.
Based on the complaint, the PS registered a case and conducted investigation during which it came to light that one of the accused, Wahengbam Dolendro was hiding in Kakyai village.
A joint team of Bishnupur District Police Commando and Nambol PS arrested Dolendro from near Kakyai Tona Kangjeibung around 3.30 pm on November 22.On questioning, Dolendro revealed the involvement of Warokpam Arun alias Naoba and Md Burhanuddin, who were later arrested from their respective residences.
The investigation further found that the trio along another accused, who is absconding, stole and butchered the cow and then hauled the meat on 2 two-wheelers before selling it off.
After examining the case record and listening to the IO report, the Court remanded the three accused to judicial custody till December 12, while reserving the bail applications fill December 1 .
