Combined team arrests 6 UG cadres with arms and ammunition

Imphal, August 26 2019:
A combined team of Imphal East commando and 6th Assam Rifle, arrested six active cadres of United Socialist Revolutionary Army (USRA), along with arms, ammunition and camouflage uniforms of the outfit, during a massive search operation at K Shoronphai village and Andro Torongthel, this evening.
Displaying the arrested cadres, the seized/ recovered arms, ammunition and camouflage uniforms before media persons at the conference hall of SP Imphal East today evening, Haobijam Jogeshchandra (SP, Imphal East) said that today afternoon, after receiving information regarding the presence of some UG cadres at K Shoronphai village and Andro Torongthel, a combined team of Imphal East commando and a column of 6 Assam Rifle rushed to the spot, cordoned off the area and launched a massive counter insurgency search operation from 4 pm onwards.

During the operation, 6 cadres of USRA were arrested along one AK series HK rifle (with two magazines), 36 live rounds of HK rifle, one 9 mm pistol with magazine, 4 live 9 mm pistol rounds, 19 live M16 ammunition, a double barrelled gun with 20 live rounds, a Chinese hand grenade, military jungle shoes, camouflage uniform and a Maruti Swift (smoke grey in colour).
The arrested individuals have been identified as Lenminthang Baite alias Earnesto (41) s/o Tongpao Baite of B Phaichon village Churachandpur, S Jamal Vaiphei (34) s/o L S Thangsei Vaiphei of B Vengnom village Churachandpur, Jamkhothang Vaiphei (50) s/o Khemkholet Vaiphei of New Lamka Churachandpur, Mangku Haokip (19) s/o Seilet Haokip of Checkon New Lambulane, Momon Baite (19) s/o Janglen Baite of Checkon New Lambulane and Thangrijoy Baite (36) s/o Tongpao Baite of B Phaichom village Churachandpur.
The SP continued that today's operation is also a part of their search operation conducted in different parts of the district after the Gamnom village incident, to check the presence of unlawful elements in the area.
He also said that the arrested persons will be handed over to the concerned police station for taking up necessary legal actions.
