State cabinet condemns Heirok incident

The state cabinet on Thursday convened a meeting to discuss in detail the frequent incidents of poll violence between workers of Congress and BJP in Heirok AC, which has now escalated to use of fire arms and led to loss of precious human life.
The cabinet also discussed the preventive measures that could be taken up to prevent recurrence of violence in the area.
During the cabinet meeting chaired by CM N Biren, 15 agendas of different government departments along with other unlisted agendas were also discussed.
While strongly condemning the incident, the cabinet observed that keeping aside the angle of political parties, the matter is simply an act of crime.
Thus, the cabinet directed the DGP to take up necessary strict measures to prevent a repeat of such crimes in future.
The cabinet also discussed visiting the injured at the hospital and as such, the CM paid a visit to the injured persons admitted to Raj Medicity, after the meeting.
Meanwhile, the cabinet has given its approval to enrol the vendors of Ema Panthoibi and Phouoibi Keithel of Khwairamband under CMHT scheme, along with registered street vendors, Accredited Health Activist (ASHA) and Anganwadi workers.
It also approved setting up of separate revenue villages for Village no 11 Koirengei, Village no.20 Nilakuthi and Village no 24 Kabo Leikai of Revenue village Heingang Circle.
Additionally, the cabinet approved exemption and regularisation of encroachments before 2018 with regard to conversion of homestead land from agricultural land under The Manipur Conservation of Paddy Land and Wetland Act, 2014.Regarding PM Narendra Modi's likely visit to the state in the first week of January next year, the cabinet has given its approval for availing Rs 150 crore loan from Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO), required for completion of the ongoing construction of the Civil Secretariat in Mantripukhri.
The cabinet also approved the agendas concerning the tourism department such as floating the tenders of Hotel Imphal and Sendra Resort, and direct purchase of land for INA Memorial Complex.
It further approved the agendas for agricultural department which included allocation ofland for construction of NABARD office, regularisation of 229 contract employees of ATMA and short term engagement of staff under Central Sector Scheme of Agricultural Census.
