Imphal, September 22 2015:
All Manipur Tribal Women Union (AMTWU) has strongly condemned MLA RK Anand who has purportedly made unsavoury remarks against the tribal communities.
In a statement, AMTWU Secretary of Information and Publicity Vungzahoih Guite said that people for and against the three bills passed by the Manipur Assembly expressed their viewpoints almost every day, which are published by the media.
And more often than not, the viewpoints made for and against rebut each other.
Citing an incident, the union said that when Kim Gangte, a former MP expressed her views on the eruption of the present turmoil, fierce criticism was unleashed against her by "some elements who indulged in communal kitchen" .
The press note said that instead of rectifying the flaws contained in the three Bills passed by the Assembly, the State Government too continues to blame the people which had aggravated the already burning situation.
Instead of trying to solve the problem, Chief Minister O Ibobi kept on bragging that the bills do not infringe on the rights of the tribals.
Teeming this as an insult, the union also charged MLA RK Anand with making uncharitable comments which showed "sheer ignorance of history and geo-politics of Manipur" .
AMTWU said it now demanded an "unconditional apology" from the MLA as it has further alienated the hill people.
