Imphal, August 22 2011:
Demanding release of their salaries for the last nine months, all the contract employees of the different Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) of Manipur warned the state government to launch a ceasework strike if their due salaries of nine months are not released before the end of August.
The ITI Contract Employees Welfare Association (ICEWA) in a press release sign by its secretary, T Sashi today alleged that despite of their repeated pleas and requests for payment of their due salaries, the pleas fell into deaf ears since the concerned authority is not doing anything regarding the matter.
The release stated that the contract staffs of ITIs who are paid a meager amount of basic pay are facing many hardships to make both ends meet due to the negligence of the concerned authority.
