Painter Samu honoured with Governor award

Imphal, May 21 2013:
The 3rd Governor's Arts Award, 2012 has been conferred to Langoljam Samu of Bamon Leikai Mangjin for his excellence in the field of fine arts during an award distribution function organized by the Arts Society Manipur at Manipur State Art Gallery, Palace Compound here today.
The function was attended by Dr RK Nimai, Commissioner of Art and Culture; Thoidingjam Tombi, Chairman of Art Society Manipur and W Rajen, Director, IPR as Chief Guest, President and Guest of Honour respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, RK Nimai stated that Manipur has curved out a niche for itself in the history of fine arts since the last 30 years or more.
There are many countries which have more than 1000 years' of fine arts (painting) history.
However, in comparison with those countries, Manipur does not lag behind.
