National Deworming Day

District Health Society Thoubal today launched National Deworming Day at Heirok High School, Thoubal district.
Deputy Commissioner of Thoubal Haobam Roshita Devi, CMO Thoubal District Hospital Dr L Jayentakumar, State Nodal Officer of Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) Dr H Ibemcha, Headmaster of Heirok High School Okram Nityai and DPO ICDS Thoubal N Shyama Devi attended the event as presidium members.
Chief guest of the programme Haobam Roshita administered Albendazole tablets (deworming tablets) to 400 students.
The programme aimed to administer deworming tablets to around 1.5 lakh children in the district.
District level officers of Health Department, Programme Manager of the District Health Society, Anganwadi Supervisors, teachers and students took part in the programme.
Speaking at the event about the importance of the day, H Roshita said that good health and hygiene of the children depend on the collective efforts of the parents, guardians, teachers and all the stakeholders.
The programme is related to Swachh Bharat Mission, she said pointing out that clean environment and sound surroundings are vital to health of children.
Children between 1 and 2 years were administered half a tablet of Albendazole.
Children between 2 and 19 years were given one tablet of Albendazole.
