Imphal, December 12 2017:
The Thadou Students' Association, General Headquarters (TSA-GHQ) has vehemently condemned the act of setting fire to the house of one Lhunkhomang Baite by unknown miscreants on December 7, conveyed a press release issued by secretary general of Thadou Students’ Association .
It can be recalled that Lhunkhomang was reportedly arrested by police in connection with the May 5, 2017 ‘Sugnu double murder case’ and was released recently, it stated.
TSA-GHQ has expressed serious concern over the failure of the authority concerned to nab the culprit who was involved in the killing of 21 years old Miss Cicilia Nengkhokim Haokip
Cicilia Nengkhokim was found dead at Muoltinchan Village Road Junction, near Sugnu on May 5, after being allegedly gang-raped, it noted .
It further stated that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Joint Action Committee and the Government representatives, including the local MLA of Chandel as well as Minister for WR & YAS Minister on May 6 assured justice regarding the case, however, no positive result has been provided till date .
It has emerged that the case has been transferred from Sugnu Police to Kakching Police, but this has not yielded any significant progress in finding justice, it said.
“We wonder why the police have not made any arrest so far in connection with this heinous crime.
There is a growing suspicion of conspiracy.
Should the authority not act expeditiously and bring justice without any further delay?.
There is potential public outrage”, the press release added .
The association urged the authority concerned to transfer the authority if the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a speedy justice while appealing the State Government to deliver justice at the earliest .
The association further cautioned to launch agitation if the pleas the association is not heard.
