National Youth Week observance starts

Imphal, January 12 2018:
Commemorating the 155th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda which is also observed as the National Youth Day, Nehru Yuva Kendra Imphal East has started observing the National Youth Week in different parts of the district from today.
The National Youth Week is being held with the objective of instilling the sense of ideals and teaching of Swami Vivekananda amongst the youth for Nation building.
The inaugural function held at BLMP Club located at Kongba Makha Uchekon Laikon was attended by Seram Neken, Member, Uchekon Nongpok Nongchup Zilla Parishad as chief guest and A Biren Khuman, president of BLMP Club as president.
A total of 150 youth took part in the function.
The dignitaries led in offering floral tributes at the portrait of Swami Vivekananda.
The anniversary was also observed by Nehru Yuva Kendra Imphal West along with Chingu Panganba Social Welfare Association, Phayeng Sabal Leikai.
The function was graced by MP T Meinya; Samashakhi Devi, Pradhan, Phayeng GP and Ningthoujam Biren Singh, ex-MLA of Sekmai AC as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
The observance started with paying floral tributes at the photo of Swami Vivekananda.
M Sohodeva Singh, Consultant, Rural Development & Panchayati Raj; P Loken Singh, vice-president of Indian Council of Small Industries, Kolkata; Deben Singh, former Senior Programme Coordinator, Manipur Voluntary Health Association and N Inaocha Singh, former president, Manipur Library Association were present as resource persons.
