Nehginpao given warm reception in Myanmar

Imphal, February 11 2014:
Nehginpao Kipgen, a political scientist and a researcher on South and Southeast Asia with specialization on Burma/Myanmar, was given a warm reception at the Myanmar Baptist Convention (MBC) on February 8, 2014 .
In his address to the audience, Kipgen emphasized the importance of reconciliation and unity not only at the national level but also at regional and community levels.
He also discussed Myanmar's democratization process and the prospect of peace and democratic consolidation.
The organizers presented him a Thadou-Kuki traditional shawl as a token of love and appreciation for his contributions toward his own community and society at large.
All attendees were served a delicious food by the organizers.
Kipgen, who is on his month-long trip to Myanmar, is scheduled to meet people from different walks of life.
Among others, he is scheduled to meet foreign diplomats, political party leaders, civil society groups, ethnic minority leaders.
