Mass illness again reported in numerous CCpur villages

CCpur, July 10 2017:
Weeks after cases of viral fever broke out on a mass scale at Hengkom village in Henglep sub-division, similar cases of the illness from multiple villages have been reported seeking immediate intervention ofhealth officials in Churachandpur district.
About 60 people, including three 3 children from Vaison Sinai under Tuibong TD Block have been placed under observation at the district hospital here since early today due to an influenza like ailment.
All but two of them have however left the hospital by 6 pm as their conditions are said to be stable.
Two people have however been shifted to the medicine ward for further treatment, hospital sources said.
Chief Medical Officer Dr Kim Simte said blood samples have been collected from the villagers for further examination.
MPCC president TN Haokip along with the Chairman ADC Churachandpur Khaipao Haokip reportedly extended monetary assistance to the villagers to meet their medical expenses.
Meanwhile two separate medical teams on Sunday and today left for the interior villages of Songkong and Santing to examine the mass cases of ailments reported in the villages and the adjoining areas.
A five-member-team involving two doctors and Entomologist yesterday left for the villages of Songkong, Mamong and Molcham in Henglep Block under Phaibong PHSC after health authorities were alerted about a mass illness in the area.
At the time of filing this report, there is no information about the team's return.
It is said that a landslide near S Khawlian has forced them to walk on foot for several kilometres to reach the villages.
Another team comprising of more than a dozen officials including 6 doctors headed by Kh Sashi Kumar, Additional Director (Public Health) and also including the State Microbiologist headed for Santing area early today where mass cases of fever have been reported while a 4 year-old child reportedly died on July 7 while on his way to the district hospital.
The team according to the CMO have started returning today through they are still to reach the town at the time of filing this report.
It is learnt that they have contacted some of their colleagues here on their return journey from a location where they received mobile signals and reportedly claimed that the villagers are stable.
Nevertheless they have collected blood samples for further examination.
