UKLF assaults NPP workers in Chandel

Cadres of United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF), an organisation under Suspension of Operation (SoO), allegedly threatened and assaulted supporters of NPP's intending candidate in Chandel assembly constituency Lunkhopao Haokip.
Addressing a press meet at the party's Chandel of fice located at MG Avenue here on Tuesday, Lunkho pao Haokip informed that UKLF cadres, who claimed themselves to be supporters of BJP candidate SS Olish, assaulted village chiefs of Chakap and Khenjoy villages in K Savumpa village area on January 29.The cadres also vandalised their vehicles and robbed them of their mobile phones, he said.
Taking serious note of the involvement of UG cadres, who are supposed to be confined in their designated camps as per ground rules of SoO, in election related violence, Lunkhopao Haokip said that his party had lodged a complaint to Molcham police station, ECI and CEO Manipur in connection with the incident.
However, no actions have been taken up till date, he lamented.
On the other hand, Kuki Chiefs' Association, Chandel recently declared of banning candidates of other parties other than BJP, which is a classic case of human rights violation, he said and added that the association could be declared as an illegal organisation for its conduct.
In a circular issued on January 26, the association threatened of boycotting candidates of other parties and to outcast them from among the Kukis of Chandel district, Lunkhopao said, while urging authorities concerned to look into the matter.
He also called upon the people to stand against such rights violations.
