Imphal, April 30 2009:
(Contd from previous issue) .
The statement jointly signed by President of DESAM LC Santosh and AMSU President Irengbam Jamesbond Mangang said that it is to everybody's knowledge that the election process taken up recently was defective.
It stated that the issuance of election notification, the ban on issuance of students i-card, the matter of demanding original certificate in filing nominations, the appointment of new RO on the scrutiny day without official sanction, and assuming the charge of 'new MUSU office bearers' without any official recognition have been known by everyone.
The statement pointed out that even the MU authority had instituted an Enquiry Committee to probe on the matter and the MU authority even decided not to give cognizance to the election process.
However, the decision of the MU authority and the act of some persons who assumed themselves as MUSU, who issued press release, have free movement in the students' home and addressed media persons as MUSU, has contradicted, the release stated while deeply suspecting a 'conspiracy' among the MU authority and the 'self assumed MUSU members'.
It demanded that no person be allowed to enter the students' home and it should be declared as 'Restricted Area' until an 'authentic' MUSU election is conducted so as to avert the prevalence of unwanted atmosphere within the campus and to prevent the occurrence of unnecessary happenings that can turn the course of MU history.
As such, the AMSU-DESAM statement directs the Vice-Chancellor of MU, Registrar, and concerned authority not to allow anyone to enter the Students' Home, and not to permit anyone from using the name of MUSU and to prevent them from doing so.
It further appeals not to go against the will/wish of AMSU-DESAM.
The statement also draws the attention of the Chancellor of the University, Prof PN Srivastava to end the imbroglio and bring in an amicable solution to it.
