Footbridge inaugurated

A footbridge built over Nambul River at Langthabal by the Langtahabal Mantrikhong Naorem Leikai Gram Panchayat under the 15th Finance Commission was inaugurated today.
Speaking at the inaugural function held today, MLA Karam Shyam said that the bridge connects Langthabal Mantrikhong and Langthabal Lep.
He appreciated Pradhan Aheibam Sunanda Devi for contributing own money in addition to the funds allocated to complete the bridge.
He stated that efforts are also on to reconstruct Thong Amanbi and Thong Ahanbi as bailey bridges with a cost of Rs 2.33 crore under the PMGSY (Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana).
The IVR (Inter Village Road) that runs from Thong Ahanbi to Manipur University has been reconstructed with a cost of Rs 45 lakh while the IVR near Thong Amanbi has been reconstructed with a cost of Rs 98 lakh.
Road in Aheibam Leirak will also be renovated soon, he added.
In addition, under the Jal Jeevan Mission, pipelines are being fitted/constructed costing Rs 1.50 crore to provide drinking water to Langthabal Mantrikhong people from the Canchipur Water Supply Scheme, he said.
Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba, Langthabal Mantrikhong Naorem Leikai Gram panchayat Pradhan Aheibam Sunanda also attended the event as presidium members.
