Imphal, August 30 2015 :
It is unlikely that the transportation service along the National Highway 37 of Imphal-Jiribam road will resume soon since the authorities are likely take more than 20 days to repair the Barak Bridge.
It may be mentioned that Barak Bridge along the National Highway 37 was damaged on August 26 after a heavy loaded truck hit the middle of the bridge.

Junior engineer of 83 RC-BRTF, Chanchal Sarkar who is taking a major role in the repairing work confirmed on Sunday that the repairing of the damage Barak Bridge will further take more than 20 days.
He said that the reason for frequent damage of the bridge is due to the over loaded trucks.
Authorities have warned from time to time not to load above 24 tons while transporting above the bridge.
But these heavy loaded trucks weighing above 25-50 tons are taking the bridge, which is against the warning, said Chanchan Sarkar.
It has been reported that more than 100 loaded trucks are now stranded along the National Highway waiting to get through the Barak Bridge.
