KYU conducts social service at CHC Kangpokpi

Kangpokpi, July 30 2014:
Concerned over the existing pathetic condition of Kangpokpi Community Health Centre which is the First Referral Unit (FRU) in Sadar Hills area, Kangpokpi Youth Union (KYU) on Monday began its voluntary social service at the Centre by cleaning up the surrounding areas and white washing the decade old walls for the cause of the general public.
More than 50 youths from different communities of Kangpokpi area took part in the social service.
Speaking on the sidelines of the social work, Kangpokpi Youth Union Secretary, Lynd Kipgen stated, 'By doing the social work at CHC Kangpokpi, we are drawing the attention of the concerned authority to address the needs of this Health Centre which serves the needs of the whole Sadar Hills' .
Lynd Kipgen pointed out that there are many outdated and old-fashioned infrastructure at the CHC.
Most of the mattresses have been worn out and beds defective, he added.
Besides all these deficiencies, CHC Kangpokpi never witnessed the full strength of doctors posted at it, Lynd Kipgen said while pointing out that the health centre has been serving with a maximum of 4/5 doctors only.
KYU therefore demanded the Govt.for construction of a new building of the CHC at the earliest and immediate posting of ample doctors at the centre.
KYU Secretary also said that the voluntary social service at CHC Kangpokpi will continue till the cleaning and white washing of the building is completed.
Patients at CHC Kangpokpi told local media persons that they feel itchiness while witnessing the building of the health centre its infrastructure.
