Two day seminar started

Education and CAF & PD Minister M Okendro said on Wednesday that State Education department is fully aware of the responsibility to develop the education system and setting up two more university in the State.
Addressing on the two-day international seminar on the theme "Derivation, Marginalisation and Social Exclusion in the North East States of India" at Manipur University organized by ICSSR, Minister M Okendro said that the Governor of Manipur has given final touches on setting up two community university in the State at Churachanpur, Sangai Univesity and Imphal, DM University.
He said setting up of two Community Universities will help to improve the education system not only in the State but also to the north east region.
Assam State has enjoyed unique position in the education system better than other north east states.
He said that Assam ha established education institute since 1901 while in Manipur it was only in 1946. Still Manipur has three Universities, two medical institutes and two engineering institutes.
Okendro said.
Minister said government has recently recruited 285 Assistant Professors and other government colleges regular principal to improve the education system in the State and also planned to form new State education policy.
He proposed to organize this seminars in the Delhi which we can share our views and knowledge to the mainland India.
Head of Department, Economic MU Professor L Tombi, OKDISCD Guwahati Chairman Atul Sarma, Emeritus Professor of Applied economics, University of Ulster, Northern Ireland Vani K Borooah and Vice Chancellor MU Professor HNK Sarma attended the function as Guest of Honour and President respectively.
Foreign delegates and various Indian scholars also participated in the seminar.
