UG apprehended along with arms and ammunition

Imphal, October 26 2018:
A combined team of Bishnupur district and Imphal west commandos arrested an individual along with a huge cache of arms and ammunition today.
According to a reliable source, a combined team of Bishnupur and Imphal West district police, acting on specific information regarding the movement of some underground militants from Churachandpur toward Leimatak, rushed to the surrounding village of Leimatak area and conducted a massive search operation at Nabil, Lailamkot and Nalon village, under Loktak PS.
During the massive search operation, two unknown youths were seen coming down the hills of Lailamkot.
On seeing the security forces, they tried to flee towards the jungle but the combined team chased them down and managed to arrest one of the unknown youth although the other youth managed to escape taking the advantage of the thick jungle.
During preliminary interrogation, the arrested youth was identified as Hemminthang Haokip alias Hemin (28) s/o Manglal Haokip of Phoipi village and an active member of Kuki Independence Army/ KIA/KIO.
The combined team also recovered and seized an AK 56 Rifle with magazine and five live rounds, 24 detonators with 5 gelatin sticks, safety fuse, a meter long wire, one mobile handset with sim card and three empty cases of AK ammunition from the site as well.
The arrested youth along with the seized articles were handed over to Loktak PS for taking up necessary legal action, the source added.
