Imphal, August 26 2014:
Highlighting various issues including non-delivery of food items under FCS for the people of Nungba area; non-functioning of Nungba SDO office and inadequate strength of medical staff and frequent absence of doctors in CHC Nungba, etc; Nungba Area Citizen Welfare Association has submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner, Tamenglong today.
The memorandum stated that villagers of Nungba have been depending solely on private retail shops for rice and other essential items as the FCS department fails to deliver the necessary food items and pointed out that hundreds of trucks loaded with FCS rice passes through Nungba along NH 37 every week but not a single grain of rice is delivered to the people.
The memorandum further conveyed that the SDO office at Nungba HQ looks deserted as the SDO runs administration directly from his residence at Imphal.
As such, villagers have to travel to Imphal to approach him spending hundreds of rupees and wasting two/three days.
