Imphal, May 26 2021:
While expressing concern over increasing cases of COVID-19 infections among the people and observing spread of the contagious disease is mainly due to violation of home isolation guidelines by the patients, Khurai MLA L Susindro has said that infected persons in Khurai assembly constituency will no longer be kept under home isolation in view of the present situation.
While appealing to COVID-19 patients who are currently under home isolation to communicate with 3/4 Community Isolation Centres being opened for Khurai AC and move in to these centres at the earliest, L Susindro reiterated that no COVID-19 patients in Khurai will be allowed home isolation from now on as this has become the main cause for increasing positive cases.
Houses of Meitei society have no separate bathroom and toilet and every room is inter-connected, he noted, adding that the society also has no habit of proper disposal of items used by COVID-19 patients even if there is separate bathroom, toilet and room.
Obviously due to this reason, the virus is spreading to people residing in the surrounding of the house resided by positive patient, he said and appealed to COVID-19 patients to stay at Community Isolation Centre for some time to collectively defeat the pandemic.
This will be the best for everyone at the present moment, he added.
While stating that he has been receiving reports of positive people venturing out from home isolation and cautioned that such act will affect the society as whole, Susindro appealed to COVID-19 patients to report at Community Isolation Centre.
He also assured of providing food for every patient staying at Community Isolation Centre from his side though government does not provide the same.
He also said that individuals willing to donate for COVID-19 patients at Community Isolation Centre can do so.
While asserting that the only way to stay away from contracting COVID-19 is getting vaccinated, the MLA said that mass vaccination programme is being planned at four places in Khurai AC though similar inoculation programmes had already started at Khurai Popular High School and Kangleipak Medical Nursing School.
He further appealed to those eligible for getting the vaccination to get their Covid shots from these centres at the earliest.
