Upgrade of DIPR needed: Dr S Ranjan

Information & Public Relations minister Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh has said the existing systems and structure of the department need to be strengthened and upgraded in sync with the increasing volume of responsibilities of the department.
The chief minister has also been consulted in this regard, he said.
Minister Ranjan was speaking at the Felicitation cum Interaction programme organised by department of Information & Public Relations (DIPR) and DIPR Employees' Association at the auditorium of DIPR Head Office, Nityaipat Chuthek on Friday.
He said DIPR has a huge role in circulating information and awareness to the public and acknowledged its contribution in the service of people.
The depart ment has gone through a lot of changes from the past with its new initiatives and various responsibilities, he added and expressed that information about government's welfare schemes and benefits have reached the unreached areas because of department's work even in social media.
He also assured that, being a new minister in charge of IPR, the grievances of the department will be addressed on priority basis.
The minister also gave his advice for proper maintenance of the new office building and surrounding.
He further informed that a proper policy and programme will be framed for the development and smooth functioning of the department.
Speaking as guest of honour, IPR commissioner M Harekrishna opined that the narrative role played by the department need to be circulated and made understood by others.
There may be issues but it can be solved in an analytical way.
The sincerity and dedication of the employees of the department is required for the overall development, he added.
Delivering the presidential address, IPR director H Balkrishna Singh said DIPR is a nodal department for highlighting the policies and programmes of the government.
The importance of the department has been acknowledged, he added.
The IPR minister also released the Annual Administrative Report of the department after inauguration of the Terrace Mini Garden of the department.
He also inspected different sections of the department.
IPR additional director W Phajatombi, deputy directors, officers and staff of DIPR were also present during the Felicitation cum Interaction programme.
