WRD Chief Engineer inspects Maphou Dam

Imphal, April 22 2021:
Engineer in Chief of Water Resource Department (WRD), Robindro Sharma has announced that the left and right canals of Thoubal Multipurpose Project can now provide water within a range of 29 and 21 kms respectively from the dam.
He announced this while inspecting Maphou Dam along with WRD officials and media persons, today.
At the visit, the team inspected several parts of the project such as the water supply scheme at Chingkhei Ching (in construction stage), spillway, reservoir and left and right canals etc.
The Engineer in Chief continued that the project, through its 50 km long canals (approx) has now allowed many people to enhance their agricultural practices.
The Thoubal Multipurpose Project can be considered as one of the most successful projects ever implemented in the State, he added.
Saying that the department is working to provide 10 million gallons of potable water at Imphal city and its surrounding areas through the water supply scheme at Chingkhei Ching, possibly by next month, he added that pipe fitting works of the scheme are almost completed.
He also appealed to all concerned to refrain from spreading rumours of the project.
