CPI(M) assures meaningful dialogue with insurgents

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has released it election manifesto in connection with the ensuing 10th Manipur State Legislative Assembly election scheduled on January 28, where the party has assured to bring about a meaningful dialogue with the militants of the state.
The election manifesto which has altogether 36 points was released at the party's office located at Paona Bazaar by the party's State Secretariat members, Y Ratan and Ksh Shanta today.
Stating that engaging insurgents in meaningful dialogue will undoubtedly pave the way for establishing peace in the trouble torn state of Manipur, the manifesto says that it believes that the state government, besides addressing the day-to-day problems of the people, has a definite role in creating a conducive atmosphere for sustainable peace and development.
As such the party will struggle for a confidence building measures across segments of society in the state, economic development and ensuring good governance.
The manifesto further maintains that the party will focus on the withdrawal of all draconian laws which includes the AFSPA which are infringing upon the fundamental rights of the people.
It also pledges to strengthen the Manipur Human Rights Commission and the Manipur State Women Commission.
Pointing out that the presence of the security forces in the state is a main source of resentment for the common man, the manifesto also promises to continue the demand for the gradual reduction of security forces.
All disproportionate accumulation of wealth and black money will be probed and exemplary punishment will be awarded.
The party also pledges to strengthen the Right to Information Act, to improve governance and also for the implementation of Labour Laws thereby assuring the working people for better wages and good working conditions.
It further promises to strive for the speedy implementation of the Six Pay Commission recommendation and also pledges to strive for launching Urban Employment Guarantee Scheme.
The manifesto further assures that CPI(M) will voice the demand for the overall welfare of the Journalist in the state by establishing Press clubs at the district level and also work to institute an independent wage board for the working journalist at par with the centre so that the journalist of the state get reasonable wages for their work.
Stating that the present education is defective where it produces a large number of youths without chances of suitable employment, the party stands affirm to reform the education system and make it respond to the requirements of the modern age and local situation.
Among other promises include restructuring of welfare schemes, amendment of the Panchayati Raj System, revival of sick industrial units, establishment of a new Tourism policy, formulation of an environment policy, promotion of library, protection and promotion of child rights, abolition of MLA Local area development fund etc.
