Op facility opened at Moreh Hospital

A new chapter was opened in the healthcare history of Moreh town with the opening of a 24-hour operation theatre at Moreh Hospital on Sunday.
Director of FW and HRHM Dr O Ibomcha; CMO, Chandel Dr N Birchandra and deputy director Ranjit were the chief guest, president and guest of honour at the inaugural function.
Dr Ibomcha said the people of the border town, particularly patients needing operations, had suffered for long due to the absence of operation facilities there.
They had to undergo a series of hardships owing to bad roads, long distance travel, additional expenditures and other factors, while going to Imphal and other places for their operations, he said.
The situation was a source of embarrassment and after serious consideration a strong resolution to establish the operation theatre was made, he stated adding that 13 doctors, inclusive of gynecologists, and staffs were newly appointed for running the facility.
Informing that the operation theatre will be opened round the clock, he asked for the cooperation of the residents of the town for its smooth functioning.
The people can avail the service of ambulance too by dialing 102, he added.
Allaying public fear for swine flu, he asserted that the state machinery is well-prepared in tackling the disease.
Monitoring cells have been opened in all districts and there is adequate stock of tamiflu, he stated.
Tingkhochong, 35, wife of Letkholun Haokip of Kanan Veng, Ward No 7, Moreh, entered the record book as the first patient to be operated at the new operation theatre.
A caesarian operation was successfully carried out on her by a team led by Ibomcha himself and a baby boy was safely delivered.
