MHRC seeks reports on 2017 post-poll violence

Manipur Human Rights Commission (MHRC) has sought status reports of investigation from Thoubal district police within three weeks in relation to post-poll violence incidents that happened after declaration of results of the 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly Election.
A complaint had been filed to MHRC in connection with the case taken up by Thoubal police station to investigate into the mob violence that occurred in March 2017 at the houses of Akoijam Shyamkishore and Yangoijam Mani both from Thoubal Kiyam Khundongbam Leikai, Thong Ahanbi, who were active workers of Yumnam Nabachandra, a candidate in the 11th Election, after the results were declared.
After due consideration of the complaint, MHRC on Tuesday ordered the DGP to instruct SP Thoubal to submit the present investigation status report of the said case to the Commission within three weeks.
Meanwhile, a similar complaint was filed to the Commission for a case investigated by Thoubal police station in connection with mob violence that happened at the residence of one Khundrakpam Warjit of Kiyam Khundrakpam Leikai after declaration of results of 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly Election.
After hearing the matter, the Commission also ordered the DGP to direct SP Thoubal to submit the present investigation status report of the case to the Commission within three weeks.
