Imphal, May 10 2018:
A State level students conference christened "Students' voice, society's voice" was held today at GM Hall under the aegis of the National Students Union of India (NSUI) .
Ex-Chief Minister Okram Ibobi, ex-Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, MLAs Govindas Konthoujam, Fajur Rahim, NSUI National president Firoz Khan, NSUI State president P Bankimchandra and many other party leaders attended the opening session of the conference as presidium members.
As a student body, NSUI volunteers must be aware ofthe affairs of the State, the country and the world, Ibobi said while addressing the gathering.
Apart from being prospective students, NSUI volunteers must understand democratic rights.
The incumbent four-year old NDA Government is spending more time and energy on publicity and propaganda.
Youth and students must know what the incumbent Government has been doing and what the previous Government did, Ibobi said.
This does not mean students should give up formal education and join Congress, Ibobi continued and appealed to the student community to share due responsibilities in bringing peace and development in the State.
