Imphal, September 07 2022:
Manipur Pradesh Congress Commit tee president K Meghachandra has asserted that Congress party's 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' would give a big impact and help in exposing the BJP's false election promises.
Apart from the rally held at Delhi's Ram Leela ground few days back against price hike, the state's Congress chief is joining the party's 'Bharat Jodo Yatra', the foot march from Kanyakumari to Srinagar spanning over 3,500km being led by former party president Rahul Gandhi.
In a telephonic conversation, K Meghachandra informed The People's Chronicle that the 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' kicked off on Wednesday from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu and it would take around 150 days to reach its destination in Srinagar.
In all, 100 marchers led by Rahul Gandhi will cover 12 states and two Union Territories and will help change minds of millions of suffering people for a new India (Bharat).
It is expected that the marchers would reach their destination in the first week of February, 2023, he said, adding that the marchers will be felicitated by Congress workers in every state.
According to K Meghachandra, people of the country are suffering ever since BJP came to power in 2014 and the main objective of the foot march is to expose BJP's false promises.
He recalled that BJP promised to give job to millions of youth every year and protect women but the party is unable to translate these promises into action and, thus, misled the people with false promises.
Apart from pushing more and more people in to poverty, BJP's privatisation policy in every sector has led to hike in prices of goods including essential commodities.
He also said that Modi government's wrong policies compelled Congress party to launch the foot march and this march would able to teach BJP a fitting lesson.
The MPCC president further informed that the over five-year old BJP government in Manipur has failed to bring any significant development in the state except bringing unfair administration.
He also said that Congress party will continue to push for a good administration and developed society and informed that state Congress leaders like O Ibobi Singh and Gaikhangam took part in the launch function of the foot march.
