Ukhrul, December 02 2022:
It was a retrospec tive moment for the Meiphung Productions (MP) as it hosted the premiere of its 6th Tangkhul movie 'I Hangunghaoga' as well as its annual red carpet event.
MP has been hosting the star-studded event annually since its inception in 2014, save the Covid-triggered lull.
It was incredible to see how the MP has brought together different talents, into its fold.
With the new movie having many new faces, it promised hope and encouragement for the budding talents! "Today, the premiere of 'I Hangunghaoga' is a great example of how Tangkhul filmdom has progressed and how our local filmmakers and actors have come a long way, despite many odds.
I congratulate Meiphung Productions for this tremendous achievement," said transport minister Khashim Vashum, who was the chief guest of the film's premiere show at Town hall, Phungreitang on Friday evening.
Minister Khashim Vashum, who brought along his wife Planning Vashum, recalled the early days of Tangkhul filmmaking when he himself was involved with some local filmmakers who struggled a lot.
He urged local filmmakers to collaborate with established filmmakers of the state in order to promote local artistes, actors and their work and to help grow Tangkhul film industry as a whole.
He also encouraged the local filmmakers and actors to strive and labour towards greater heights.
"I am sure Tangkhuls have talents and there is plenty of potential for further development and achievements in film making," he said.
Khashim Vashum, who is also the Animal Husbandry & Veterinary minister, encouraged MP to come up with more initiatives to promote local talents as well as collaborations between established filmmakers and upcoming talents.
Meanwhile, retired IRS Timothy Zimik, who was the guest of honour at the event, reinforced the same message by calling upon all local film-makers and actors to be professional and hardworking on their road towards success.
Significantly, 'I Hangunghaoga' is a directorial debut film of MP's own chief operating officer Seema Ks Awungshi and it surely is testimony to her potential as a director.
The new movie is basically a gospel movie written by Obed Vasha and based on a true sto ry, narrating the testimony of a young man.
It depicts the journey from teenage to adulthood; narrates about infatuation, immature decisions, living a life without God, how it affected him and how he returned to God ultimately.
The movie's lead actors are Yursem Luithui, Angel Shimrah and Kanring Vashum; while supporting actors included Yarmichon Varengnao, Yurreipem Chiphang, Mayarthing Zimik, Philangam Shimrah, Hungniathot Hungshi, Amanso Varam, and Pemnao Awungshi Cinematography of the movie is handled by Pam-shim Rungsung and Wurngam Ruivah.
