Hepatitis forum of Manipur draws Govt's attention

The Hepatitis Forum of Manipur (HepFom) has drawn the attention of the Govt to pay more attention to HIV and Hepatitis infected patients ofthe State.
HepFom is a platform of community based organisations like SASO, MNP+, Care Foundation, Kontribute, Hope Ccpur, Manipur Drug Users' Forum and other such organisations.
Addressing media persons today at the office of Manipur Network of Positive People, Yaiskul Hiruhanba Leikai, President of HepFom.
RK Tiken urged the Govt to extend possible assistance to the endeavour of the forum while saying that many of its members and others have faced untold miseries due to alleged apathy of the concerned authority towards their problems.
Tiken also appealed for timely distribution of assistance to beneficiaries.
Saying that free medicines have been provided to BPL card holder-Hepatitis C and HIV infected patients by the Government of Haryana and Meghalaya, Tiken urged the Govt to take similar measures, if not provide medicines at subsidised rate.
He also said that a State level Hepatitis-C awareness campaign was organised on Jan 7 and 8 at Hotel Tampha.
As part of its drive to spread awareness among the people, such awareness programme would also be held at Churachandpur.
Singat subdivision, Imphal East, Thoubal, Chandel, Bishnupur and Ukhrul from Jan 31-Feb 6 .
The Hep-C infected patients should also be identified during the awareness drive.
