10 months salary for Primary teachers before Ningol Chakkouba

Imphal, October 26 2012: The monthly salaries for Primary teachers recruited under SSA, which have remained unpaid for the last 10 months, will be handed out before Ningol Chakkouba, informed Education Minister Moirangthem Okendro.

Minister M Okendro was speaking at the inaugural of a 5-day long State Level Aquarium Exhibition cum Flower Show at Manipur Science Aquarium, DM College of Science.

The function was organized by Manipur Science and Technology Council (MASTEC) .

The Minister stated that the agitation carried out by Primary teachers who have been recruited under SSA demanding payment of their 10 months salaries is rightful.

Considering the problems faced by the teachers, the state government has decided to pay off their 10 months' salaries before Ningol Chakkouba which falls on November 15 .

The Minister also said that the salaries of contractual teachers in Government Higher Secondary Schools have not been paid for the last 19 months and efforts would be made to clear their salaries at the earliest possible.

However, the Minister disclosed that the demands of the students to induct regular Principals in 28 Government Colleges,to fill up the vacant post and to improve the infrastructure of the colleges, could not be made possible this year.

It could be fulfilled by the beginning of next year.

The function was presided over by Md Abdul Nasir, Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries.
