Imphal, July 25 2019:
A student from Rajasthan in possession of a domicile certificate issued by the State Government has been found in the course of counselling students for admission to MBBS course in the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) .
Speaking to media persons at their Khoyathong office this evening, KSA general secretary Hemjit Seramcha said that the Rajasthani student was found among students called for counselling against 18 seats.
The Rajasthani student in possession of domicile certificate issued by the State Government is listed in serial number 8 and his name is Gaurav Parikh.
But only students who are residents of the North Eastern States are eligible to apply for the 18 MBBS seats at NEIGRIHMS, Hemjit said.
He also expressed strong suspicion if domicile certificates are issued indiscriminately.
He said that the Government should ensure that the Rajasthani student is kept away from the counselling scheduled tomorrow.
He further urged the Government to find out how the State's domicile certificate was issued to the Rajasthani student and award befitting punishment to all the culprits.
